Some errors in the Gift Boxes printing process are inevitable

For professionals who have been engaged in printing for a long time, some printing errors exist objectively and cannot be avoided; while for customers who receive prints and play a decisive role in the acceptance of finished Gift Boxes products, sometimes these errors are not fully understood. As a result, after the dispute, the communication between the two parties is very difficult. The customer thinks that the finished product of the printing factory is unqualified, but they are making excuses and making unreasonable quibbles; the printing factory thinks that the customer is vexatious and has problems with payment credit.

Here is a brief introduction to the errors that exist objectively in Gift Boxes printing. The reason why it is said to exist objectively is that these errors are unavoidable due to the limitations of the machinery itself, not due to human factors such as poor management, improper quality control and other factors. These errors include:

1. Text errors in typesetting:

Typesetting is an important process before Gift Boxes printing. To be precise, typesetting is a text arrangement work performed by design and production personnel using corresponding software under the instigation and requirements of customers. Therefore, from the point of view of the printing house, customers are generally required to sign for confirmation before plate making and printing. But sometimes due to the tight time of the job, and based on the level of trust between the two parties, the customer may sometimes completely delegate the right of typesetting confirmation to the printing house. In this case, the client may blame the designer for irresponsibility in the event of a problem, such as a typo or other typographical error. It should be said that the occurrence of this error is not caused by the mechanical problems we mentioned above, but is completely caused by process control problems. Therefore, we generally require that the customer's signature must be confirmed before the proofing of the film. These errors can be reduced or eliminated to a large extent through the joint alignment of both parties. But even so, in fact there may still be some errors in the manuscript confirmed by the client. In this regard, we recommend to learn from the practice of some multinational companies. They usually follow a strict principle behind the important printed matter, indicating "This information is for reference only, and our company is not responsible for any errors in the printed matter. Liability" to eliminate joint and several liability for typographical errors.

2. Production and proofing errors:

After the design and production staff complete the typesetting work, they enter the distribution process, which is what we usually call proofing. Generally speaking, the output accuracy of laser imagesetter is in the range of 0.01mm-0.1mm. At the same time, due to the difference of the film used, it will also lead to certain errors. The most direct manifestation of this error is that among the four films (black, red, yellow, and blue), if there is a problem with a certain film (such as the black version) and needs to be patched, because the films are different when the film is output, the resolution Rates may be different (not in the same batch of films), resulting in dot changes, and the supplemented film may be out of register with the previous three films. Therefore, when the film is produced, it should be formed at one time, and the number of patches should be minimized. Of course, garbled characters or font changes due to font substitution during film production can be avoided if the relevant personnel are serious and responsible. After the film (film) is produced, traditional analog proofing needs to use a set of four films for proofing. When proofing, in order to achieve the accuracy and stability of the four-color ink sample color, three links must be controlled and standardized, namely equipment, materials and quality standards. On the equipment, it is necessary to adjust the pressure of the proofing machine, the temperature of the plate table and the air-cushion blanket to ensure that the proofing machine is in the best working condition; on the material, the same brand of ink of the same series should be used, and four colors of different brands should be used. The ink will cause the sample to be different from the characteristic file in the scanner, which will directly affect the color correction accuracy. In addition, the paper should be standardized. In principle, the same paper should be used for proofing and printing; in terms of quality standards, attention should be paid to the solid density value and the relative contrast value of printing. If these factors cannot be taken into account when proofing, it will lead to errors in the printed product compared with the proofing. For example, the ink used for printing is different from the ink used for proofing; the paper used for printing is different from the paper used for proofing (such as using different brands of paper, or using different types of paper, such as copperplate, film and special paper); one-sided pursuit of proofing Dot gain is minimized, resulting in small white holes in the center of the dot. If these deviations occur, it will directly cause the printed product to fail to catch up with the proofing. In fact, even if the same set of film is proofed twice, the proofs will be different.

3. Color error:

There are three kinds of color errors. The first is that there is a deviation between the color of the printed matter and the proofing; the second is that there is a certain degree of inconsistency in the color before and after the same batch of printed matter; the third is that the color of the product printed in the printed matter is deviated from the actual color itself. The first difference is that we usually say that the printing cannot catch up with the proofing. The reasons have been discussed above, such as ink problems, paper problems, and dot restoration problems. For this difference, the printing staff should try to follow the sample, if the difference is very large, the customer should be notified in time, and the customer will sign the sample in person. The second difference is also an objective problem that the printing machinery itself has been difficult to solve. We know that during the printing process of the printing press, the inking of ink is a dynamic balance process. During printing, when the ink on the ink roller is reduced to a certain extent, the printing machine will automatically ink to compensate. The "certain degree" here will directly cause the color deviation of the finished product printed at the front of a batch of printing jobs and the finished product printed at the last end. The third discrepancy is actually a matter of psychological expectations. We once encountered a customer who claimed that the color of the printed product was not exactly the same as the actual color, which would damage the company's image and even affect the company's order. We believe that the color deviation is acceptable. In this case, it should be said that this deviation exists objectively and cannot be entirely attributed to the quality control of the printing house. As we mentioned earlier, to be precise, it is impossible for the color of the printed product to be completely consistent with the proofing, not to mention the ink color deviation in the same batch of printed products. Proofing can be used as a reference standard only because it comes out first, and customers may be preconceived and think that proofing is good and right. In this case, we generally consider the color of the product image first, then the color of other images, and finally the decorative color bar or color block. For the printed samples for ordering, we recommend that customers add a line below the printed matter: "The colors in this printed matter are for reference only, and the color is subject to the actual object", so as to avoid unnecessary disputes.

4. Paper Error

Due to the problems of the papermaking process, the brightness, thickness and texture of the same paper produced by different paper manufacturers will be different. For example, the coated paper of the same gram weight produced by Zixing, Daewoo and Jindong has different textures, and of course the differences are not too big. Another example is Asia-Pacific offset paper. The fineness and whiteness of the paper are better than those of other domestic manufacturers, but the price is also about 50 percent higher. In addition, the same gram weight of paper produced by the same manufacturer may have slight changes in the production process due to different delivery times, plus acceptable errors and other reasons, its brightness, thickness and texture are also different. In fact, in the label of each batch of paper purchased by the printing factory, the paper factory has made such a statement in advance, requiring that it cannot be mixed with the previous paper, so as to avoid deviations when users compare. For the printing factory, it should provide the customer with the paper sample of the printing product to be used before each printing, and the customer will confirm it and put it into printing to avoid such disputes.

5. Printing Machinery Error

The error of printing machinery is reflected in two points. One is the problem of overprinting accuracy, and the other is the problem of ink color. We know that color printing is actually four{{0}}color overprinting, that is, red, yellow, blue, and black are superimposed together, and the content of overprinting is reflected on the film, which is the dots we mentioned earlier. Small dots. According to my country's printing machinery industry standard, the registration accuracy of the printing machine, that is, the superposition accuracy of the dots, is required to be 0.033mm. The actual mechanical accuracy is generally higher than this standard, mostly 0.01mm, and of course, some printing machinery is 0.1mm ( Mostly monochrome machines). But even so, if you use a 40x magnifying glass to observe the printed product, you can still see that the superposition of its dots is deviated. Therefore, in the process of handover of printed products, we can only reach the point where there is no problem with the naked eye. Unless the printed products are rare treasures for thousands of years, it is impossible for the printing factory to accept the practice of customers using a magnifying glass to pick faults. For the problem of ink color, there is also a certain deviation due to the compensation of the ink volume of the inking device, which has been discussed above and will not be repeated here.

6. Cut size error

After the printing is completed, the next important step is to use the paper cutter to cut the printed product. When cutting the finished product, due to the error of the cutter itself, the error after cutting the finished product also exists objectively. In fact, according to relevant national standards, in RMB printed products, the error range of the cutting size is 0.5 mm, and the error range of securities printed products is 1 mm. That is to say, the size of RMB and tradable securities are not exactly the same, but the error must fall within a certain range. For general printed matter, the size error of cutting is more than 2 mm up and down.

7. Psychological expectations error

Precisely speaking, the psychological expectation error should not be included in the category of printing error we are talking about. The reason why this problem is mentioned is that in the process of dealing with customers, this problem is a problem that we often encounter, which is difficult to solve, and we have to face. For customers who have been in contact with printed matter for a long time, after long-term accumulation of experience and knowledge, they already have the insight into which errors are acceptable and which errors are unacceptable, and it is easier to communicate with the printing factory. And some customers may have very high psychological expectations when making prints, hoping to make the prints beautiful. For these customers, the printing factory has to take on the task of education and training market, and communicate with customers more. After all, a print is a print, not a work of art. Poor communication is an unpleasant memory for both parties.
